What Normatec Compression Therapy Is

Normatec is a sequential pneumatic compression system. Chambers in the boots, hip sleeves, or arm sleeves inflate in waves from the foot up, pushing fluid out of the limb the same way a manual lymphatic drainage session would, but mechanically and with more pressure than any human can apply by hand.

Pro athletes have used Normatec for over a decade. NFL teams, NBA teams, MLB clubhouses, and Olympic training centers all run them as part of standard recovery. The reason: there is no faster way to clear systemic leg fatigue in a 30-minute window.

The Recovery Cave uses the same gear professional clubs use. The boots cover legs from foot to upper thigh. We also have hip and arm sleeves for athletes whose sport loads more than the lower body.

Who It's For

  • Lifters and CrossFit competitors after a heavy leg day
  • Runners between mileage blocks
  • Cyclists on consecutive ride days
  • Combat athletes recovering from leg-heavy training
  • Anyone with a long flight, long day on feet, or general lower-body fatigue

How A Session Works

  1. Boots OnSlip into the Normatec boots, hip sleeves, or arm sleeves depending on what you trained.
  2. Pressure SettingThe operator dials the pressure to your tolerance. New clients usually start at level 4 or 5 of 7. Experienced users run higher.
  3. Sequential PumpChambers inflate in waves from the foot up, holding briefly, then deflating. The pattern repeats for 30 minutes.
  4. Rest + StackCompression stacks well with red light running at the same time. Mention what you want to add on at booking.
  5. Walk OutLegs feel notably lighter immediately. Most clients are surprised by how different the next morning feels.

What You'll Feel

  • Squeezing sensation that ramps and releases in waves
  • Notable lightness in the legs immediately after
  • Reduced soreness in the 24 to 48 hours that follow
  • Better sleep on heavy training nights
  • Less stiffness on consecutive training days

Frequently Asked

How long is a Normatec session? +
Standard sessions run 30 minutes. Some clients run 60-minute sessions on heavy training days or after long flights. The operator builds the cadence with you on session one.
How often should I do Normatec? +
Most clients run Normatec one to three times a week. Endurance athletes in heavy mileage blocks often go three to four times.
Does Normatec hurt? +
No, but high-pressure settings feel intense the first time. The boots get tight enough to clearly move fluid. Most clients ramp up tolerance over the first three to five sessions.
Can I add Normatec to my massage? +
Yes. Most clients add 30 minutes of Normatec after a 60-minute therapy session. The compression extends the recovery window that the manual therapy started.
Who is not a candidate for Normatec? +
Anyone with deep vein thrombosis history, anyone with serious circulatory conditions, or anyone with open wounds on the limbs should not run compression. We screen for this on session one.
